When I googled I got the same percentage you got: around 1/3. Sorry I'm not too good at transferring specific web sites. For those who say that the operation was too big and complex to have included any part of the Federal government, I would just point out that all Bush and his buds would have had to do to be complicit was to know about it beforehand and purposely look the other way...which is exactly what they did.

Although that was initially one of the justifications, the Bush Administration has since admitted that NO connection existed between Saddam and bin Ladin/al-Qa'ida. Saddam actually thought UBL/AQ were a bigger threat than the United States and Great Britain. Nevertheless, that doesn't stop some from ignoring the facts. Honestly, I would estimate a great number of the lesser informed still believe we had some justification. The top tree: WMD, a connection with UBL/AQ, and direct involvement in 9/11 have all been proven false. The last, Saddam was a 'bad' man, was true; however, how many bad men are in charge of countries? Addition: In no way should my comments above be construed as contempt for Soldiers deployed to Iraq. The VAST majority are doing their job the best way they know how to do it with honor and dignity. Support the troops, but oppose the reasons they were sent.

In order for the government to have been behind the attacks on 9/11, you are talking about organizing a conspiracy involving thousands upon thousands of cops, firefighters, city officials, eyewitnesses, family members, etc. Not only is this extraordinarily improbable, why would the government allow things like "Loose Change" to come out? If they had no qualms about killing thousands of Americans on 9/11, what would be the deaths of a couple more conspiracy nuts on top of it?
9/11 was what is was. Terrorists tried to blow up the WTC in 1993, remember? I'd say the attacks on 9/11 could conceivably have taken 8 years to plan.
Edit - The article you linked is using a national poll of 1,010 people to suggest what roughly 300 million people believe. LOL. That means less than nothing.

Unfortunately it's difficult to know. I certainly believe it was. The 'debunkers' did a good job for a while but it's been too long now, and there's just too much evidence proving it was some kind of fiction. The controlled demolition of the buildings themselves, that's pretty much your starting point. Buildings would never under any circumstance do that.
But Americans are professionals at being willfully ignorant. As evidenced by the answers above. They can know nothing about a subject and have a fiery opinion about it.
I would say about 30% of people know it was bullshit, but I'd say a small percentage of those people would actually admit it because they're afraid.
Americans are an utterly paranoid, fearful bunch, and so they'll keep their mouths shut, especially since the mainstream media will brand you a 'conspiracy theorist'.
But actually we are the sane ones, and they are the crazy ones. Living in a fantasy world with 'fake terror' and fake shootings and all that.

It's stuff like this that makes me less confident in govt......
quote from link
"MIAMI, Florida (CNN) -- Six months to the day after Mohamed Atta and Marwan Al-Shehhi flew planes into the World Trade Center, the Immigration and Naturalization Service notified a Venice, Florida, flight school that the two men had been approved for student visas."
http://archives.cnn.com/2002/US/03/12/inv.flight.school.visas/
Somebody in INS approved MOHAMED ATTA.....after 911.....that is stupidity or dereliction.
Interangency rivalry not helpful.
neither is ego.
or appointing tough guys and calling them CZARS.
Intelligence and big bugaboo .....profiling..... the key.
While the INS was giving MOHAMED ATTAS student visa two thumbs up securty personnel at airport making AUNT BEE looking lady take her shoes off.
SO THEY COULD CHECK FOR EXPLOSIVES.
no big final battle with armies sluggng it out in some uninhabited area.

About 1/4th believe they either had something to do with it or covered something up. But like they say on South Park, 1/4th of Americans are retarded.

wow, this is actually still floating around out there....
we will never know....the full extent of what happened, who planned it, who funded it, etc. so lets all just get on with our own lives and forget about who was behind it, and start realizing that over 3500 people died that day. maybe we should realize that our way of life changed that day, and theres nothing we can do about it...
lets all not forget the day, but lets stop worrying about who did it!!!!
