It's bleeding heart liberals such as yourself that decry the woes of the world, yet never look internal at the destitute living conditions we experience here in our own country.
We are one of the few countries who actually send more aid overseas than we give to our own citizens. Very few countries are so blatantly oblivious to domestic needs as to be concerned for the needs of foreign interests.
I personally could care less about the Nigerian family that has 5 starving kids, but yet they keep getting pregnant and having more children. That's abject stupidity.
Although our welfare system is equally as stupid provide money to people who are more than capable of working.
So, before you spout your mouth off about America feed the world's starving children, go to West Virginia, or more recently New Orleans, take a look around, and .... SHUT UP!

The US government provides billions of dollars of humanitarian aide to Third World nations both directly and through international organizations such as the various UN agencies. This aide is in the form of loans for the purchase of food and medicine, cash grants, food aide and economic/infrastructure development. The problem is that with the exception of assistance given for economic and infrastructure development, all other aide merely contributes to the destitution of the intended recipients. For purely political reasons we made no demands upon foreign governments as a prerequisite to their receipt of the benefits. We giver funds and food/medicine intended to aide the people but it always ends up in the hands of their masters (corrupt politicians, feudal landlords, warlords, etc.). In essence we contribute to the problem by providing the economic means for their overlords to perpetuate their own existence. The world does not suffer from a lack of aide; it suffers from an abundance of evil.
The UN is one of the worst organizations through which to provide aide as the very people who are causing the problem are the ones placed in charge of overseeing the distribution of said aide.
All of this is made possible by your tax dollars as the “government” has nothing that it does not take from you to begin with. The government does not print or manufacture money for the sole purpose of aiding the international community. Rather all aide comes from your taxes.

yes they do. They send alot of aid to countries all over the world. That aid being food medicine and what not. To all the people who answered about our country, And YES our country gives our starving people alot of aid to. Every hear of welfare? Look we can only help our people so much until they need to start helping themselves. As harsh as that is its true. Why would people go get jobs if our gov't gives them free food, free money, free places to stay? No this does not apply to everyone since there are good people out there in bad situations but for everyone of them there are people out there abusing the system.

I don't know if it goes to starving children, but the US does give millions and millions in foreign aid to many countries.

Yes. they give HALF of all our taxes to the military and it filters down to the children.the U.S. military machine takes half our taxes. the people who make what the military needs are filthy rich.and the poor get poorer.that's the Republican plan to give money to large corporations and rich people and it will filter down to us. well . with the military it filters down in bombs and bullets .I give to "world vision" who feeds starving children.and of course i pray for them.
