Heck, we're still there, we've never left. Truth be known, we took that country and Japan and made democracies out of both of them.. :)

Hitler commited suicide April 30th 1945. German troops in the field began surrendering almost immediately and May 7th 1945 was the official surrender of all German troops. Japan didn't surrender until August 1945 so the war lasted at least 4 more months. VE day (Victory over Europe) was May 8th 1945 and VJ day (Victory over Japan) was Sept 2nd 1945. Not sure when the last American soldier left Germany.

No we still continued the fight and even after the peace treaty was signed there were Nazi's shooting at our soldiers and citizens who collaborated with us. May 8th, 1945 was the official last day to the western allies including the US. The last American soldier to leave, well let me know because they are still there and based on what I see now will be for a long time.

Of course not. American forces occupied post-Nazi Germany long after the fall of the Hitler. After WWII, West Germany was divided into occupation zones by the U.S., France, and U.K. East Germany belonged to the Soviet Union. American forces never completely left West Germany.
The last official day of WWII is the day Japan surrendered to the Allied forces - which is Sept 2, 1945.

Actually, American soldiers never left Germany, nor did they leave Japan. We still have bases set up in these countries. The Nazis were defeated before the Japanese were. So WW2 wasn't officially over until after we dropped the second atom bomb on Japan.

Did two or three of our soldiers die every day in Germany for 50 years after WWII? No. Really bad analogy, and really disrespectful to the soldiers who are still fighting in Iraq when they should be walking around feeling safe.

The last American soldier has not left Germany yet. We are already over 62 years after the end of WWII in Europe. US soldiers have been in South Korea for 54 years after the truce. And that war is not over. We are in a prolonged cessation of active combat.

Just because Hitler died does not mean the war is over. There were probably a few Nazis to find and not to mention all the Nazi troops that had to be watched over. We still have military bases in Germany and in Europe

We are still in Germany, Japan, Philippines, England, Korea and so on. Once we have entered a country under the term "war" we have never left any of them. As will be the same with Iraq. No matter what their PM says they will always be asking for some sort of help.
