Parricide is the killing of one's parents. Do you think that child abuse should be taken into account at all? If so, how? I disagree with the sentence of life in prison for youths (under 18) when the crime is parricide and they've endured a lifetime of severe abuse. Do you rehabililation and treatment is a better answer?

Yes, especially when a women can use abuse as a defense in the killing there husband, when that woman had the means to move away and divorce, while a child has none of those means, and can not do anything for themselves, what would happen if they went to child services, CS would probably just think they are overreacting to something there mom did. Because no one takes kids seriously it would be far harder for them to get out of that situation, but women can use abuse as and a child can't, outrageousI say.

Chickarita, I think you rock! I agree totally. As a child, I suffered severe physical, psychological and sexual abuse and often times considered killing my stepfather who did the abusing. Luckily, I never did so.

I think that in such cases where a kid actually does go through with it and kill a parent, there should be proof that the abuse did occur and from there, a child should be psychologically evaluated to be certain that their only reason was because of the abuse, and that they wouldn't be a further threat to others. If that really is the case, then they should be imprisoned for a while, but certainly not life, much less life without parole.

only if the child is getting hit when the murder happens If the child kills the parents when they are sleeping or something like that then no or atleast not as much. I dont think they should get life if there is serious child abuse but no adays everything is child abuse. Heck school teachers cant even discipline a child anymore.

Only in that it shows motive. Parricide is not self defense, it's retaliation. There are so many other options if a child has time to plan and execute a murder.
