I want to be a mage and I want to level up quick. I want to have a pet and be in a guild.

Gnomes make awesome Mages.
But if you like the pet aspect more than the mage, go hunter.
Or better yet, be your own pet and play a druid....lol

For a mage, I'd say gnome. They have increased intellect and escape artist racial abilities. As an added benefit (in PvP), they are small, so they can hide behind things in the environment and they are harder to click on. The differences from race really don't amount to much when you reach higher levels, but initially, gnome would give the greatest benefit.

Well, if you like being a mage, the a gnome is your best bet. they have a plus intelligence racial. if you would like the control of a pet, then be a hunter. the best race for hunter is orc for horde, and dwarf for alience. If you would like to combine the two, then i suggest being a warlock. they are casters, like the mage, but have more damage over time effects, instead of quick damage. warlocks have a wide range of pets that have many uses. warlocks can basically self resurrect every 30 minutes, which is very helpful. with races it really dosent matter what you choose, just what you like, but i recomend blood elf for warlock.

if u wana be a mage, be a gnome. if u want a pet u have to be a hunter. if u gonna be a hunter, be a night elf.
