You illustration is lame. Ebonics is spoken BY and TO other black people, and is something that most people I know can choose to use or choose not to use.
Many black business owners, general population, athletes etc are "well spoken" but among their peers they choose to speak the way THEY are comfortable.
Most black people wouldn't go to a job and speak like that to the potential boss, that would be stupid.
If they did, you'd have reason not to hire them.
But it's like any other cultural tradition or language variation or slang or expression.. it's THAT cultures choice to do what they will with it. People have no business trying to take what isn't theirs or dictate what other cultures say or don't say.
Have a great one! =)

Respect it? No... I'm with you, I wouldn't hire anyone that came up into to the office to approach you like that. But it's not the use of ebonics, it's the lack of business consideration. But you know when you hang with your friends, you have some slang in there, too. So...don't hate.

Why can't they speak properly like everybody else. I think that by creating this FALSE language, African Americans are limiting their success and transition into the business world.
If people cannot speak the language of the majority and cannot relate to the outside world, how can they succeed in life? I believe that Ebonics is a horrible way for people to speak because once you get in the habit of speaking in such a way, the harder it will be to stop and transition to proper grammatical SPEECH.
If PEOPLE coming from other countries and lifestyles and GRASP successfully the English language why can't African Americans.
They are as INTELLIGENT as anybody else but falling into that trap leaves them, in the end, looking like a bunch of buffoons! CULTURE is one thing but Ebonics has nothing to do with it!!

Black or white or green. It sounds ignorant and I'm sorry..but that's just how it sounds. The person can be the smartest most cultured person in the city but when they speak like that they sound ignorant.

I agree with you 100%, we all live in America, traditionally our language has always been English. I suggest that if any portion of our American culture wants to branch off and speak their own version or develop their own language, then they also need to find their own country.
