I ask the same thing about my boss, who is like the meryl streep character in The Devil Wears Prada but 100 times worse. I think she is cranky because she's unhappy about her life. She's just turned 50 and she's not happy about it. She is a widow, no kids, no pets, no nearby family and has all the money in the world. She thinks her clients are her friends which I cant stand. All she does is work, 24/7. She can totally afford to take a vacation but she wont because she is cheap.
Overall, she is a lonely devil woman. I guess I would be cranky too if I've just turned 50 and found myself disliked and alone.
I'm tempted to put a note on her desk saying, "Clients are not friends. They are clients. Please get a life." period

Maybe you have to go to your crappy job where you have been working for four weeks and have yet to be paid. You had to take two trains and a bus to get there and even though you left out half an hour early you were ten minutes late. That would really make me cranky.

Stop thinking about yourself and what you want and try to find ways to bless other people. When you stop being so selfcentered, you wont be so cranky. I know this from experience... and also, get lots of sleep!
