Because the lava plains (the dark spots on the moon) are arranged in a way that it looks like a face is on the moon.

Humans are pattern seeking animals, we often see what is not there. Not all cultures see a human face on the moon either. South American natives saw a rabbit in the moon, for example. Basically, we see faces on the moon for the same reasons we see faces and other familiar shapes in passing clouds. They are perceptual illusions.

Because the human brain is particularly good at identifying faces and facial features. Think how good you are at recognising one of your friends in a crowd of total strangers. We are so good at recognising faces that we see them even when there isn't actually a face present. We even recognise a smiley as a face, even though it's no more than a circle with two dots and a curved line in it.

The random patterns of craters, mountains and lava plains as seen from here vaguely resemble a face, and so the brain sees a face there.

The same phenomenon is responsible for the stuff about the 'Face' on Mars, which is really no more than a rocky outcropping that, in certain lighting angles and at low resolution, is vaguely reminiscent of a face.

Just coincidence. Those are the craters on the moon. From where we stand, it looks like a face.

Because of the way the sun light reflects off of the moon's craters and the angle from which we view it on Earth.

human being search for patterns.

the pattern of the moon is created by light from the sun, resultant shadows, and our own brain trying to make that light/shadow into a pattern we recognize..
