the 1b bag how many outs is that? I thought it was a double play because he touched the guy that was suppose to go to 2b first then touched the 1b bag, but I dont know.

It is a double play, the runner must advance towards 2nd, becasue he is being forced off the base by the batter. Tag the runner on the base then tag 1st base, definetly a double play!

That is technically a double play. As soon as the groundball is hit, the runner standing on 1B or the runner standing on 2B is in no mans land, until they successfully get to the next base safely. The 1st baseman would have to tag the runner originally on 1st base and tag the base to get the batter out.

That should be a double play as long as he tags the runner going between 1st and 2nd then touches the 1st base bag. The runner is a force out. He has to move so he would be out, then tagging the base would get the hitter out. If he tagged the base first, then tagged the runner, then the runner would still be safe because the hitter is out and the force out is no longer.

You are correct. The "runner" at first base is a force out and then the 2nd out occurs for the batter once the fielder touches first base. If the fielder had touched first base prior to tagging the runner at first, then the force would be off and the base runner would have been safe.

The runner on first base is out because the batter is entitled to the base. He is technically "interfering" with the batter's ability to achieve first base. He could certainly have stayed there until just before the batter arrived and tried for second.

The batter is out either way simply because the base has been tagged prior to his arrival.

That makes 2 outs.

The runner at 1st MUST run to 2nd if there is a groundball hit. If the ball touches the ground, all runners on base have to go to allow the batter to reach 1st or get thrown out at 1st. Staying on 1st is only legal if its a flyball or if the ball is caught in air.

if he tags the guy while he's standing on 1st base it's actually only one out...
even though it is a force situation any runner is safe until they leave the bag...
