my hubby doesn't liek the in-laws. He always thinks his parents are PERFECT. Sometimes he's right- my family can get JERRY SPRINGER. Is this common for most people?

It is normal as far as I am concerned. My husband's family really is less disfunctional than mine is. On my side of the family we have had our "Jerry Springer" moments. His side is much more "Leave it to Beaver"ish. lol Thankfully we are able to laugh at the differences and go on.

Yes, my husband doesn't say too much unless he just gets really irked, but I'm sure he thinks his family is "better". I remind him of some of the things has family has said and done and he snaps back to reality.

yes, but in theory, he is probably afraid to admit that there are skeletons in his family closet that are just as "jerry springer". the longer your together, the more you find out.

Your spouse, whether they like them or not, should get along with the in-laws. You are all family after all.

My husband and I get along so well because we joke that both of our families are crazy and we are the only "sane" ones in the family.

From my experience and from what I hear from friends. Yes it is. My husbands parents are FAR from perfect as are mine. But he only wants to talk and hear about my parents problems. He wants his parents problems to be swept under the carpet and forgotten.
