I am looking for films that help to understand philosophical concepts and address moral issues.

I'd say "What the Bleep do we know", "The Waking Life" and "The Matrix" for their takes on existence & physical reality. For issues of identity and moral behavior, I'd say "AI: Artificial Intelligence","Emperor's Club", and "A Clockwork Orange"

I also liked "Memento" and "Being John Malkovich".

Other films which are frequently recommended for their philosophical themes are "Leaving Las Vegas" and "Pi" (The actual mathematical symbol is the title) but haven't seen either of them yet, so I can't comment.

Here's a more exhaustive list of such films, with short synopses:

Pi ( like the mathematical number). it addresses davinci's theory that everything stems from the spiral shape. I dont think it addresses moral issues though. It is very confusing, interesting, and somewhat disturbing. You should also watch A Clockwork Orange. it may not be exactly what you are looking for when it comes to philosophy but moral issues are the whole theme of the movie and i can guarantee you will be very impressed and slightly traumatized by this movie.
