I am having a 16th b'day party for family and friends, with a professional dj with loads of equipment. I want to make it a night for every 1 to remember. Anyone have any other good ideas of what i can do for the night|

Don't get upset when there's a disaster. It's what happens at all teenage and "grown-up" parties. Someone always loses a ring, or has their boyfriend kiss another girl, or throws up in a plant pot. Don't take it as an example of a party going wrong!

To make cleaning easier - if you have a wheelie bin, leave it out right outside the back door, and wide open - make it easy for people to dispose of their beer cans / contents of their guts in a way which isn't going to stain the carpet. Also a bin liner in the front room will also help.

Props to whoever said "if you want to remember it, don't drink." But do you really want to remember it? Don't get drunk, or it will spoil your night, and you'll end up in your best dress and shoes, sitting on the doorstep crying about something pointless. Respect yourself and others. Drinking is a wonderful hobby. Getting drunk can be fun, too... But falling around, clutching a bottle of WKD, having fights and throwing up is not something to do when you live with your parents. Wait for university.

Don't forget the dark! You can't have a good party with all the lights on. Grab as many small lamps as you can and turn the lights off. If you use candles, be careful about where the wax drips, and remember that you will always have some idiot messing about with the wax, and it's gonna get on the carpet one way or another...

Resist the temptation to invite everyone you know. Invite everyone you like - that's enough!

Something that's always good - though it sometimes goes wrong (and it is a bit expensive) is to buy a whole load of disposable cameras, and leave one on each table - have a box near the door for people to deposit them anonymously on the way out... And don't let your parents pick up the photos!

Good lights
Good music
Good people
Easy on the drinks

Have a great party!

Happy Birthday...

Get a good professional magician who will circulate and do various tricks at each table , maybe during a break ?? It sounds a bit naff but we had this at a function a couple of years ago and it was the main topic of conversation for months . The guy was amazing and the difference of having him do these tricks in front of your eyes and seeing it on telly just shows how good these guys can be.
Have a great party I am sure it will go off well.

well my freind it all comes down to how much you can afford to spend... if your on a budget then a good way to set a good vibe is to have a themed or fancy dress party that way everyone buys there own costumes ( possible themes- space, hollywood stars, gangstas, things beginning with the letter `D` ect ect) ... its well worth in investing in a good dj as this will be the main front of the party... possibly a band if you know any... you could also hire inflatables or performing people such as fire breathers or stilt walkers the possibilities are endless just find your budget...

in case you're doing a Blast from the previous, why no longer bypass all out and contain previously time classes- even the 1800s or something? If I have been going to certainly one of those events, i'd wanna bust out certainly one of my Nineteen Fifties or 80s clothing ;) it is an somewhat good theory, i'd do this for my 18ths birthday it is arising in some months.
