The 8 major planets are on a plane, meaning they're all basically on the same level, or in a disc. The exception is Pluto, the dwarf planet, which is on an angle relative to the other planets. Pluto, therefore, spends about half of its orbit above the plane of the rest of the solar system, and half of its orbit below the plane.
