The media plays a huge role...they sculpt us into the thinkin that beauty is perfection..and if we arent perfect we arent beautiful. A guy a love..he is prob. not veryyyy attractive in many ppl's eyes..but I think he is beautiful..thats all i see. Beauty is an oppinion.

Beauty is like a work of art - a matter of opinion, taste and culture. In this day of mass media, yes, it plays a part in establishing the definition "beautiful".
These questions were familiar to the Greek philosophers 2,500 years ago, when the face of Helen launched a thousand ships.

an individual paradigm...unique to each person...partly due to culture, upbringing, personal experience, all of these things can effect beauty...someone else's sense of beauty isn't right or wrong...just different.

You can include the "Forms" which was Greek philosophy's way of describing beauty, the ultimate perfect yet abstract "Form" existed for everything but was unattainable for man...so we are forever emulating our closest perception of the "Form"...

The media plays a big role depending on how each individual rates the importance of media in their lives.

Stay away from broad generalizations and you'll do great...the obvious answer is that "the media is bad and tells us this unattainable perfection that doesn't exist is beauty and makes short boys feel bad that they are not tall and strong, fat girls feel bad that they are not thin, etc..." you can go this route too...but it's kind of boring and expected, so I'd advise the first option.

good luck

There is symmetry to beauty. There is a cultural aspect to beauty too. Of course we have to flavor it with personal taste. Sometimes I see someone that others find really attractive and they look similar to someone else I know and I can’t find them attractive any more. Can tell good bone development, and other practical things too.

Beauty is what you think it is. Not what the world thinks it is. True beauty is everyone. Everyone just has to appreciate and find the positive sides of their beauties. Everyone has it. They just haven't found it yet.
