I have issues with being jelous of my friend. She has a boyfriend and I want one, what can I do to stay out of her business and mind my own life?

I am 17 years old and cannot find someone for myself. It's not that I need help in finding one, because I honestly don't think I need one. I just have abandonment issues. I have tried to forget about it, but it annoys me. She is younger than me and has the one thing I have always (thought) I wanted. I know the only reason she has been successful in finding one is because she is thin. I need help in fighting this inferiority that I feel so strongly.

What your experiencing is envy, not jealousy. We tend to envy people because we think we cannot have what they do! You may feel inferior to your friend is some respects but just be proactive in getting what you want. Do you want a boyfriend just because your friend has one? O do you want one because you thing it'll make your life better? Decide why you want a boyfriend and then act!

If she is your friend, you should be happy for her. It's not a competition to see who can get a boyfriend first, is it? It' s great when you both have one at the same time. But, it doesn't always happen that way. Just be patient, your special guy is just around the corner.
