it's the nhs regulations they let you go up to 10 days before they induce you, i had a sweep today but i don't think that will work as it didn't with my daughter.

I tried cod-oil, sex, spicy foods, tonic water, taking long walks, eating black licorice, and visualizing the baby coming out. I was dilated to 6, but having no contractions or anything. 5 days later they broke my water at the hospital, because I was dilated to 7 now and still wasn't fully effaced. Sadly, none of the home remedies work. I know, I tried them all!

I am a bit skeptical of all the thing supposed to induce labour really. I think you would have to ingest masive amounts for them to work as effectively as an induction.

Sex on the other hand I believe can work, but then I would say that woulndnt I?!

Good luck, hope it goes well and quickly for you.

honestly all of these things are just old wives tales, (eating spicy food, having sex, walking, etc) Your labor will start when the baby is ready.

FYI quinine is in any tonic water- its the ingredient that give it that bitter taste.

Drinking Tonic water doesn't bring on early labour.
It is however, good to drink if you suffer from 'Restless legs' as the Quinnine helps to stop it!!

Maybe you should ask why they are letting you go over your due date for so long.My third child was a day late and my midwife gave me a 'Cervical sweep'.I went into labour 1 hour after.

I wouldn't drink anything I didn't know much about, just try the old fashion ways of walking, sex, or an roll your hips on an exercise ball. your baby will come when he/she is ready. good luck!

there is really no way naturally to induce labor. The baby will come out when its ready!

I think raspberry leaf tea is actually supposed to be more effective. Best thing to do is what got you pregnant in the first place, of course!! Go have fun!
