no, washington, dc, already has a national league team, so the marlins would not move there.

The Devil Rays have a multi-year lease with the city so they are not going anywhere for a long time.
To answer your question, yes I think the Marlins are looking at the same fate as the Expos. I am not from the area so can't explain the reasons why but the Marlins do not appear to generate a loyal and continuous fan base.
I do not know where they would go or more importantly, how divisions would or would not be realigned. If Vegas gets a team, how do you keep the Marlins in the east - no new ownership group would want that because they would want to develop regional rivalries.
I guess you could move the Rockies to the Central and the Pirates to the East in order to have a Vegas team in the West.

I hope this doesn't happen, since I live in south Florida, but it very well may. I went to the Marlins game yesterday, and the place was practically empty. We parked the closest we have ever parked, and for every 100 seats, probably 80 were empty. They said the attendance was 12,000, and I think that was generous. The Marlins are definetely in the bottom five of attendance and they're not getting that new stadium. I hope they don't move, but they could.

They need a new ballpark and a fresh start. If management is not willing/able to pay their players market value, than they would need new owners as well. Just look at the talent that has come from the Marlins that is no longer there. The Marlins could suffer the Expos fate if management is not willing to field a winning team.

Moving the Marlins is a bad move. They need a new stadium and get the hell out of Dolphins Stadium or make the Dolphins go back to the Orange Bowl.

man, u really want people to like those names for the teams dont u. this is the second time iv seen u talk about this. nobody likes the idea of naming a team the comets or wizards. those are retarted little league names. and to answer ur question, no the marlins will not end up like the expos. they have alot of talent in their young players and prospects and when they trade dontrelle willis they will get alot better. it will just take a couple more years and they will start getting more and more fans attending the games.

I hate to say it, but yes, they probably do. I think soon enough the Devil Rays will too. Despite winning the world series in 1997 and 2003, baseball hasnt caught on as big as they expected it would in Florida. Florida and Tampa Bay are two of the worst attended ballparks in the majors right now. It seems like somewhere in middle america would better for these teams whether is Oklahoma City, Indianapolis, Las Vegas or wherever.

The Marlins have tons of talent on the team but no one in Florida likes baseball. They should relocate the team to the Midwest to a city in Oklahoma. Give them a chance. I think the market would be good there.

I can see it happening. The owner obviously don't care about winning so that why fan don't care to come to the park. It's pretty sad when the opposing team has more fans in attendace that the home team.
