My husband has been working a lot of long hours lately and I want him to know I appreciate him. Especially because he is doing it so that I can be home more with our baby. What is a good gift to give him? We are going on our first date in a few months this weekend. Thanks!

I'm assuming Jackal (or Jackass) below is probably single....

By the way, I would appreciate any suggestions of things we can do together. Thanks!

Congratulations on being parents, it is a tough job. Well since you have and your baby, I doubt you get any chance of decking up. So I would suggest to deck out when you go out on you date. Go to your fav restaurant, catch a movie. During dinner, just tell him thank you for everything he is doing to support the family and how much you appreciate it all and you are so proud of him. And if you have some time alone at night, make some sweet love to him. All this should make you both feel good.

I really like the GPS system idea. That would be a great idea since he travels to so many unknown cities. But for more of a personal gift, maybe think along the lines of him. We don't know him so we can't guess what he would truly love. What is one chore that he always does that maybe he doesn't care for? Hire someone to do it for him. Or maybe something that he has always wanted, but never really bought because he viewed it as too frivolous? That big screen tv or hot tub is fantastic ideas. Especially the hot tub-since you two are rarely together that can give you an opportunity to bond again and even "spice" things up. Really think about things that he loves to do, but doesnt get to with his schedule. Golfing? or Fishing? Get him new gear for either of those. Or maybe a local country club that he has wanted to try out their course, but didn't want to spend the money to join, you can pay the dues. If you live near KC and he loves Nascar, you can take him to the speedway there and get him enrolled in a class to actually drive a race car around the track a few times. Really, the best gift would be tailored to him. Look at his hobbies and what his needs are for those hobbies. Think back to things he said that he always wanted to do but didn't really wanna fork out the money to do or just never got around to doing.

A nice dinner and a "Guy" movie should be suffice. Take him to something whereas he does not have to think and can see junk get blown up on screen, ie: Die Hard, Tranformers, etc.

Personally speaking from working long hours myself, sometimes a man just wants to "Veg" out by themselves. Whether it be watching Sportscenter, playing a video game, or what not. Speaking of video games, buying 80% of guys NCAA 2008 this week would make them happier than anything else.

You could have someone take the baby for the day and cater 2 him. You could cook his favorite meal, dance for him in some lingerie..., give him a massage, and you could get him a watch or something he's wanted for some time now. You can ask one of his close friends to get an idea of what he wants.

You just need to be as loving as possible to him. I know you have to take care of your child, but you also need to make sure you take care of your husband. He will appriciate you having the house clean , hot meal on the table, and making time just for him. Gifts don't always have to material, letting him sleep extra one day, fixing his favorite meal, watching something on tv you hate, the little things mean more than anything you could buy.

Give him time to relax, a back rub, dinner/breakfast in bed, extra sleep. Sounds like you've got a good guy, and you're a sweetie for appreciating what he's been doing!

You know your husband better than us. But I would like a box of Cuban Cigars and a bottle of Johnny Walker Black Label Scotch to relax with.
