well the only real way to resolve this situation is to be honest. you have to sit him/her down and explain how YOU feel. it will be hard and feelings may be hurt, but if he/she really cares about you, they will take you any way they can get. there is no reason that you can't be friends.

Plain Griddle Cakes (pancakes from scratch)
sift:
one cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
one-quarter teaspoon salt (not needed)
beat and add:
one egg (optional)
add:
1 cup milk (scant)
stir gradually to make smooth
add:
1 teaspoon melted butter or oil
cook in a hot frying pan, flip pancakes when they bubble, to brown the other side.
Serve with Vermont maple syrup.
These pancakes are sure to be tasty -- if you're watching your sodium intake, you can make them without salt and baking powder, which also contains sodium (as does milk), and they'll probably still be pretty good. We never add salt to anything, but when we omitted the baking powder the pancakes came out a little bit on the glue-ey side

Be honest with this person (and yourself). If you really believe that this is all you want for now, then let this person know. However, it's sometimes nice to be open about new possibilities and directions for existing relationships. I have been in some awesome relationships with people who started off being "just friends". You never know, but being true to everyone is key to maintain the respect and friendship overall.

Keep the friendship and forgo a more intimate relationship. You need to be honest with him . Explain your fears. Tell him that you don't want to risk the friendship by becoming a couple. A bf/gf relationship may not work out and you could end up losing a great friend.

Be honest and tell him. Been in this situation before and it is the only one that will work. Also he will respect you a lot more for having the balls to be honest with him. It will also tell him how much respect you have for him because you are being honest.

Try being honest. Tell him that you are afraid a relationship would damage his and your friendship, and that it is to valuable to you to do that. If he is a true friend he'll understand.
