I want to publish a book on LuLu.com. But my brother is an artist and has agreed to do illustrations for the book. How will this work? Will I be able to add his illustrations to my book as well as give him the credit for his drawings?

Lulu is a printer. They will publish whatever you prepare for them, so if you wish to credit your brother's illustrations, you have to do so in the body of your book. In other words, if you're preparing the copyright page, you add in a line that says "All illustrations (c) by...)"

Make sure you read the FAQ's before you get started so that you know what you're doing. For a newbie, I'd suggest using their word template to format your book correctly, unless you are proficient with creating pdf's.

When you're factoring in a list price, don't forget to consider the cost to print your book. If you purchase a Lulu ISBN, you can get your book on Amazon, but the marketing is all up to you.

Again, read the FAQ's, spend some time on the Lulu message board because going in knowing what you're getting into will make the self publishing experience rewarding.

Good luck!

Lulu is a print technology company, not a publisher. You will need to prepare your manuscript yourself and upload it to their servers to print. You handle all aspects of the process. Lulu merely provides you with the tools to do so.

I suggest reading all of the FAQs at lulu and spending some time in the forums to understand the process and what is involved. Self-publishing can be very rewarding, but it can also be very frustrating if you are not prepared for the workload.

I've read lots of questions on Lulu and all the answers arealways - stay away. They will simply print you book (for a fee) and ALL the marketing is up to you.
