Hand sewing. I do English paper piecing, and I also make doll clothes. Or rather I have. When I left California, I gave away a lot of my sewing supplies, and have not done a lot since then.

What is English paper piecing? It's the technique developed to work with hexagons in piecework (what a quilt top is made of; I don't get around to actually quilting them). Nowadays you can get the pieces die-cut to great precision, and that makes the whole thing easier. The pieces (typically about an inch on a side) are of light-weight card stock. You cut a piece of fabric about 1/4 inch larger than the paper piece all around, and baste the fabric to the piece, folding over the 1/4 inch to make the seam allowances. Then you have a nice firm piece which can be whip-stitched on the edges, and assembled into all sorts of interesting designs. Let me find the link for you and post it below: it's really fun.

My art is very varied. I've made cabinet pulls out of hose bibb handles, painted to match a cleaning caddy and apron, hung empty picture frames and interesting clothes on the wall,; I like to use a thing for other than it was intended like a Dura-Vent vent for a lampshades or a clunky, old, rusted metal part of a machine for a lamp base. I wish I could paint but I'm hopeless so I paint furniture with abstract designs that follow the form of the piece. .

I believe, and am often told, it is simply living. It took a long time to learn, I reckon, so I'm devoted to it now. I also paint (oils mostly, but some pastels), and draw (carry a pocket book everywhere), and model waxes for bronze casting (usually between six and 12 inches high). I used to write poetry and books etc, too, and played the clarinet. And all of that is how I celebrate the art of living, I suppose. Then, of course, there was making love ....

Hi Moon,
What is my art?
Talents I have realised and continue to develop: being of service to others i.e. teaching/guiding/helping. This comes from my interest in psychology and astrology too. I think motherhood is an art: that’s my art. Writing is an art, the fruits of which, have provided for myself and my family. The art of sharing and caring is so very important to me and I hope it is a part of me. Reflection …. Is that an art? Perseverence. Oh and patience ... is that an art or a virtue? Anyway I 'strive' to be patient. Sometimes impatience wins.

My art consists of my children's latest masterpieces! I post them directly on the fridge. . .
I've seen some people who have framed the artwork of their children, and make it look really formal ~ but I'm not that kind. Magnets work just fine =)
My own personal art varies depending on my mood. . . Sometimes I make beaded necklaces & bracelets, or I paint, or make cute little trinkets. I can't follow a pattern, but I do sew sometimes, too. I like to recycle things in my crafting. . . =) Happy Monday, Moon!

I like working with my hands, creating things. I also love to draw. I haven't done it in a few months, though, and need to get back in it. Hope you have a wonderful week, too, Moon! :)
