do you think he'll be able to play next season?

He has had a great career and should he become the new homerun king this year I believe next year will be up in the air depending on his health. If he is felling good he might want to take a shot at 800 homeruns and make it a little more difficult for A-Rod and others to catch him.

At least this isn't a bash Barry question. My answer is no. He could but at that point he would have to play DH in the AL. Right now he has the HR chase so SF generates a lot of revenue as do parks all across the board. But next year there won't be any reason to have Barry because he would hinder more than help, like I said unless a team wants a 42/43 old DH. Who knows!?

There's never been a bigger case in sport of someone being assumed guilty when there's absolutely no actual 100% proof of anything...he's NEVER been found positive, and yet lots of people, like the guy above, say they "hate" him. Why? I'll bet he's never even met Bonds.

I just dont get it...I mean, people will defend Lance Armstrong against drug claims, when pure logic suggests he MAY well have taken something. But he was never found positive either....so why are so many people ready to just assume Bonds is so guilty ? Its double standards.

@riseball: Armstrong had "no physical change other than aging" ?? How many other people go from, literally, the verge of death to winning the world's most physically arduous bike race twice within four years?? Nor is it true that was he tested after "every race".

The fact that he was tested more regularly than Bonds is surely more an indictment of baseball's testing policy when compared to pro. cycling, and not something that can be used against Bonds individually. He's taken tests when he's been told to take them..do you expect him to offer up urine samples on a voluntary basis? You're free to believe he's a "cheat" if you want ... but just show me any evidence which isnt purely circumstantial. Because thats all Armstrong had as well.

Bonds has said that he will play next season if he's healthy. Now, that is a very big "if." He already takes the most days off in baseball, and he's got terrible legs and knees. Honestly, the only way I could really see him playing is if he got traded to an AL team where he could DH. I don't think that will happen because really, only the San Francisco fans cheer for him.

I Love Barry Bonds. He is one of the greatest baseball players who ever played the game. And the **** with steroids, in America you are innocent until proven guilty and he has not been proven guilty. And even if he did do steroids, the steroids didn't enhance his performance he still had to play his best to get his numbers. You try doin steroids..I bet none of you would even come close to hitting even 1 homerun

Arcadia is so wrong it is almost laughable. Barry Bonds did not take any where close to the number of tests Lance Armstrong took. Lance took tests immediatly after and during every race he participated in. Did Barry take a test after every homerun? Lance has repeatedly denied all allegations, Barry has claimed he did not know what was in the cream he rubbed himself down with. Lance had a consistent performance record throughout his career, Barry suddenly begins hitting homeruns at a pace unheard of in professional history and personal history at an age when physically the body is not at the stage where improvement of such radical dimension is scientifically plausible. Look at photos of Barry throughout the years. Phenomenal physique change. Look at photos of Lance Armstrong throughout the years, no change not accounted for by simple aging. Barry Bonds is a cheat, unfortunately so are many others in sports, but Barry gives so many other reasons to dislike him, including blaming his problems on his team mates, (he got medicine from another players locker, remember that one) his total arrogance, his numerous radical comments etc. He has brought this on himself. Armstrong came back from cancer, the only thing Bonds came back from is a trip to his pharmacist and a dugout boxing match with his team mate because he was jealous that some one else might get an MVP. Bonds is sad.

Arcadia: Did you even read what I wrote?

We were talking about the Tour de France and the top three finishers in each leg have to submit to a test.
By the way almost all trials are solved on circumstantial evidence. If today there is no snow on the ground and you go to bed and in the morning the ground is covered but you did not see it snow, it is circumstantial evidence that it snowed because there was no eye witness to the snowing. The circumstantial evidence against Bonds is overwhelming, keep your blinders on. What about the fact that he has never sought legal reparations against those who wrote books accusing him of using steroids? What about the cream he rubbed on that came from Balco? What about the medicine he said he took from his teammates locker? His homerun totals exploded around the same time his head looked like it was about too
Also, for those who claim that if we took steroids we would not hit homeruns, you are exactly right, but that is a spurious argument since most of us couldn't get a bat on a minor league pitch much less a major league one, but if I have the talent and the hand eye coordination to hit the ball consistently 360 feet and the home run distance is 380, my talent for hitting will get me to make contact and the steroid use will give me the power to get the extra 20 feet . No one claims steroids will improve your hand eye coordination only the result after you hit the ball. Bonds is a fantastic hitter without the roids, they just allowed him to change flyball outs to homers.
