5/x-7/y
mutiply the first term by y/y and the second by x/x to make the common denominator of xy

5y/xy-7x/xy
(5y-7x)/xy

I agree with Mr. Man if it involves solving for Y to simplify, but then your answer would need to be y=7x/5

i guess the equation is equal to zero

5/x-7/y = 0

5/x = 7/y

5y=7x
