Most of the artist acknowledge they needed to do more in their television interviews.

The Live Earth concert is about awareness, and everybody making an effort to do better.

Come on guys, It's not the rich peoples fault that global warming is happening, its for us lowly low middle class guys to make the earth a better place. I mean sure they have HUGE cars that use tons of gas. And sure they have their own planes that guzzle fuel. They also have huge houses 5 times the size of a normal American family that takes tons of natural gas to heat and CO2 to cool. But its our fault that the Earth is being ruined. Why can't you see that?

its absolute hypocrisy, the only reason those people performed was because of the publicity, millions of people were going to see it on TV or were going to attend in person. they didn't care that their private jets, and limos were burning fossil fuels. I think al gore had good intentions, but didn't seriously weigh the ramifications of it all

Yes, they are pretty much hypocrites. ANd I don't think the concert really created any awareness about the issue.
