When you're multiplying mixed numbers like 4 and 2/3, the easiest way to handle them is to change them to improper fractions. To change any mixed number to an improper fraction, multiply the leading number (in this case the 4) by the bottom number in the fraction (in this case the 3), then add the top number in the fraction (in this case the 2) to that. For this problem, you would multiply 4 by 3, then add 2. Once you are done with that process, you use that number as the top number of the new fraction and the 3 as the bottom number. You should now have 14/3. Now that the mixed number has been converted, you can just use the regular procedure for multiplying 2 fractions. Sometimes it's easier to write 5 as 5/1 to help visualize the multiplication better. Multiply 14 by 5, then divide by 3. You should end up with 70/3, or 23 and 1/3.

ok 5*4 2/3
there's a procedure called BEDMAS that you have to follow.. this can be used to solve easy questions and hard questions but it works.
B- Brackets
E- Exponents
D- Division
M- Multiplication
A- Addition
S- Subtraction..
Now look at the question, there's no brackets, so we go to the next one. There's no exponents but there is division.. and that's 2/3 right? so divide 3 from 2 and you get your answer. Next we do the multiplication which is 5*4. you get your answer and then you have 2 numbers. because there's no symbol inbetween the numbers telling you what to do. It's automatically multiplication. So you multiply the two remaining numbers and you get your answer
