Yes there are Red Wolves which are the rarest wolf species and is one of the most endangered animals in the world. It once roamed throughout Southeastern United States. Aggressive predator control programs, hunting and agriculturalization have combined to bring the red wolf near to extinction, because it was thought to be a threat to livestock. There are thought to be only 249 red wolves remaining in the world, and 200 of those reside in captivity.

Two island breeding programs—one on Bulls Island off the coast of South Carolina, the other on Florida's St. Vincent Island. I doubt that there are many wild red wolves in florida but there are more in north carolina as an estimated 100 wolves have been released into the wild Best place to see or hear the Red Wolf in the wilds is the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge on the Coast of North Carolina.

Yes, we have red wolves down here in Florida. They can be found almost anywhere, but especially in the Everglades and the Apalachicola forest. They are secretive and rather rare now, so not very many people see them.
