i have an ipod with 374 songs on it. I just switched computers and itunes identity. Now i am getting a new itunes account, but i'm afraid i'll lose all my songs, is that true?
& if so would i be able to save my songs in a file, then burn to cds, then rip them onto my ipod mini 4GB second generation? Is there a simpler way?

download a program called share pod. You can copy your songs off your ipod onto your pc so if you do lose them you can just xfer them back.

I forget how, but there IS a way you won't lose all 374 songs from your iPod.

My fiance and I each have an iPod and can use the same computer with them and not lose our songs. Before you hook up the iPod to the computer, check the iTunes preferences. There is something in there where you have to check/uncheck if you want iTunes to update your iPod automatically.

Apple's way of preventing people from sharing music by taking ipod from computer to computer is to prevent us from using more than one computer with one ipod, if you connect to a second computer, your music will be erased and replaced by the music on your current itunes. Sorry, I know it stinks, I hate it too, but oh well! I'm going to basically just start over with mine.
