Why do you want to shave?
Before you laugh at me... think about it.
If >>YOU<< think that >>YOU<< will be better off shaving your legs or underarms or whatever, then fine.
But if >>YOU<< are doing it because >>SOMEONE ELSE<< (peers, advertisers, etc) are telling you to, then I suggest you really think about it.
Fools will deride -- especially those who do not agree with or understand you. You will hear idiots talk about returning to the apes, or how gross your legs look, etc.
Forget them. They're fools. They have bought the ads from the companies who are trying to sell them something. If you think about it, who is the fool? The one who makes a reasoned decision or the one who believes the snake-oil salesmen? But mostly they are afraid that someone with enough personal self-esteem will make THEM look foolish for spending all of that time shaving.
I'm not sure of health issues with shaving your legs, but there are health issues that are much more pronounced when you shave your underarm and pubic areas.
My suggestion: don't start if >>YOU<< do not feel like >>YOU<< are better off doing so. Let the fools be fools -- there is no reason for >>YOU<< to be a fool just because >>THEY<< are.
Peer pressure is a funny thing. In a local high school (approx 4,000 students), one of the girls sports teams decided to stop shaving. The reason had something to do with psyching out their opponents. It seemed to have worked. But what else happened was that having 24 top-notch females in the school, who were popular, self-assured, well known, and above being swayed by peer pressure, stop shaving caused a ripple effect where other females (including some staff) also stopped.
The "rival" school's teams started calling them "hairy high" -- remember, fools deride. The problem is that the more obvious it became, the more females started to join in and stop shaving.
Why?
Because most women start shaving because they feel pressured into it by their peer group, not because they feel like this is something >>THEY<< want to do. When my daughter graduated from there, she might have been one of 1,000 females in that school who did not shave. Actually, SHE never did. Her German mother taught her better from the beginning. But you get my point.
I assume you are pretty young if you have never shaved. You crave that acceptance from your peers. Everyone understands that need. My advice to you is to check YOUR feelings, and go with THAT. There is no need to shave hair off of your body. Nature (God) put it there for a reason.
So... just think about it.

http://beauty.about.com/cs/shaving/a/shave_legs_mist.htm has some excellent tips on shaving. The har won't grow back thicker...it appears/feels that way because the ends are blunted by the razor. If you don't care what others might say or being teased (some people are a bit cruel), you can try it and not continue. It is a cultural thing in the Americas and less so in Europe (women there don't shave anything or rarely do). Try it. You like it, continue. You don't, well, they are YOUR legs!

the hair will simply grow back. and the thicker myth isn't really true. if this is your first time shaving, there's no need to be worried about thicker hair growing back. it's from years of shaving that this happens. if you decide to not shave again, your legs may be itchy a little when the hair does grow back, but it'll go away once it's long enough.

Well some girls shave because they have hair on their legs and some are lucky and they don't have to shave. But if you shave your legs once, eventually you will have to shave again because when you shave the hair on your legs would eventually grow back so you have to keep shaving like about each time you shower so you won't have hairy legs. Hope this helped.

First of all, when you shave, your leg hair will NOT grow back thicker than before. Shaving does not cause new hair follicles to form. When I started shaving my legs, less hair grew back. Not keeping up with your shaving just means you'll have hairy legs when you don't shave. Nothing awful is going to happen if you don't do it.

Hair wont grow thicker! Just use cream instead of shaving. I have blond hair on my legs and sometimes I dont do anything about it. You can see it in the sun and I don't even care. I think we'd look better with fur. I'd like a green one.

If you shave your legs once then stop the hairs will just grow back - why bother.
If you shave your legs regularly you will stimulate the follicles and the hair will gradually become thicker and coarser and possibly longer and you will need to keep shaving.
If you remove the hair from the follicle by waxing or epilating the hairs will gradually get weaker and thinner.

Use hair removal cream. Its wayyyyyy better than shaving. And I have super sensitive skin and Nair sensitive works for me!! Shaving is such a hassle and hair removal cream keeps you smooth for like 2-3 weeks. If you shave it WILL grow back thicker than before. And the next day you alwayshave stubble. So use cream!

ok. once you shave, dont worry you will keep up with it because it will become a habit to you. how old are you?
after the first time you shave dont shave the next day or even the day after. wait maybe 5 days. i know that may sound disgusting but leaving your hair 5 days before you shave will prevent the hairs from growing fast and thick.
hope i helped.

well if you can't really see the hairs on your legs then don't shave, cause if you shave they will grow back thicker and more noticeable then they were before!
