I've caught some who type just one letter or something and post their answer then go back and edit it just so it appears as first!

I had seen one letter answers before but I had never noticed
that they were coming back and editing their answers. I usually only answer questions that I know I am not likely to be choosen as top answer because when some one asks a
dumb question about another race or something like all Jews
should have been killed or was Hitler really a great leader. You know the type I mean I like to come down hard on them and make them look like the racist they are. I suppose they
do as you say because they want to have time to go to
yahoo or google and find the right answer first Thanks for
your question I always wondered wy I would see one letter answers and now I know.

It could be because if the person who asked the question doesn't end up picking a best answer it gets put into the vote on undecided questions category and most people just click and vote for the first regardless of what the answer is just to get an extra point. Many times I have actually read all the answers and like the bottom really was the best and the first had them all.

If you think your answer is worthy, and should be read.. you know that first answers get the maximum attention.
Look at it this way:
You post a question. You can't wait to read the answers. You're so excited you read your first answer, and read it again and again till you get your second answer.
You'll probably enjoy reading the second or third, but then.. you'll start getting bored of reading answers especially if they are long.
Another thing..
Sometimes in some questions, most answers will be the same.
How large is Africa?
There's only one size for Africa.
If I answer second not first, it'll be like I'm just repeating the first answerer's answer.

THE LOGIC BEHIND THAT IS
lots of people r crazy 4 earning points ,
with the least working,
they gets easily 1 point by voting for best answers
& in that one also , they r just selecting the first ans..(easy process )
i ve marked it many times
so, it bcomes imp 4 some people to b @ the first place when answering

It's not something I do, but I can understand it when there's a really interesting question and you know a ton of people are going to answer it and your answer will be way way down on the list and no-one will ever see your brilliant and persuasive answer....

The first answer is the best usually, or that is the thinking around here. But, in the answers to my questions, the first or last may be the best.

So more people will read it....I don't like my answer being down there in number 30 something or more, especially if it's a good answer!!

Thats kind of stupid. I try always to get best answered all the time, because one gets more points that way...what do you get when you are the first to answer???
