with Prince giving away his latest album in a Sunday newspaper, and Ash saying they will only release singles for download. Has the LP met it's end.

I still buy the odd one, but usually copy it to my PC and MP3 .

Not until they produce a PC, an iPod or mp3 player with a half decent sound. One that can rival a top flight hi-fi system at full tilt.

Some of us don't actually like the hideous, squeaky, squawky wail produced by PCs and mp3 players. Some of us actually rate sound quality, over quantity.

Maybe when we have all passed on and only the idiots are left, then the album will fade into history...

I believe so. It's a shame really. I used to love getting cds and going through the booklet looking at the artist pics and reading lyrics, but now, it's cheaper to download it. I usually just pick and choose songs, but if it is an artist I am a huge fan of, I will download the whole album.

I haven't bought a physical cd in ages.

I hope not!! I prefer having the album, I like having the physical thing. I then copy it to my mp3 player. But I still have the physical album to listen to!

Yes, Prince and Ash (who??) are secretly manipulating the music business so if they're ditching the LP then it is gone FOREVER.

I have not loaded a CD in forever.
I'll say it's dead for the computer literate, but still alive for the hardware dependant. Soon enough though...
