If a question does not provoke an instant reaction in me, either because it does not appeal to my sense of humour or because I have no particular firm opinion on the subject matter or I consider it too vulgar, I choose not to answer it.
However, if I see something which, if it were published in the "real world" would be unlawful, or would be completely inappropriate on this site (e.g. abuse of or incitement to hatred of any group of people, obscenity/pornography) I would report it - and in fact have done so on several occasions.

I feel the same way as DoloresthePrune. If I simply don't agree, I ignore it. However, if it incites hatred, racism, violent homophobic attacks or involves overtly sexual pedophilia content, I hit that report button. These types of offenses clutter yahoo answers. I've said it before and I will say it again, there is humor that can be dark or crude in a funny way and then there is just plain crude for sake of being offensive or hurtful to people that already have it tough. Call me what you want, but I really believe that to be the truth.

Well, being that I'm someone that was doing some of the complaining last night... I'll be honest...

As long as it's not overly abusive... like the ones I came across last night... (see link below)
99% of the time... I just give it a thumbs down so I don't have to see it anymore.

If it's a question I don't like... I don't answer it! Simple as that!

The link below is about the question I referenced above... I'm not fishing for any more answers or trying to "spam" this question. :)

Thanks for asking! I wondered the exact same thing myself! :)
(That's why I put in some of my questions... "If you don't have anything nice to say... don't post / answer.) ... Obviously I didn't do it on the question below... but I bet that guy still would have "given the finger". (If you can still see it... You may have to click "show"... IF you want to see what I'm referring to, that is!) :)

I tend to ignore it. Or if i feel strongly about the question then i will answer it with my opinion. But to go telling tales to the teacher i wouldn't do. Cos if we all done that, then no-one will be on here. Everyones opinion is different. After all its all for a bit of fun, so why get stressed over it. Our questions and answers on here, isn't going to change the way the world is!!

I too, vote on ignoring it. Unless it is a verbal, or physical threat to you, your family or friends. WHy bother right? SOmetimes people are just trying to get a rise out of you. I know I may say somethings that freak people out or turn heads. But I am my own person and some people agree with I say. Other's totallu disagree. Truth is, sometimes people are honest, some people are blunt, and others are just rude. It you are secure in yourself, what you do and say forget the rest!!
Take Care!

Yea well I think people can just learn to agree to disagree. That is what I was taught. Anyway we have enough people on here that seem to be more than willing to judge everyone "else" (he, he). Just ignore them unless it is terribly out of control. We don't need to put up with the worst of the worst, but otherwise go on about your own business.

Your question involves two completely different things to ignore. Here in Q&A we all agreed to abide by the Guidelines as a Community and are given the problemmatic job of decerning what is acceptable or not. If a person finds the content objectional they need to decide what to do.

Outside Q&A common sence dictates what to avoid based on the situation one is facing.

I agree with you. I do not participate in negativity, either. If I don't like it a question or an answer, I simply move on. Trying to eliminate, or censor, everything you do not like is ridiculous. Just like TV, if you don't like what's on change the channel or turn off the TV. It's a simple concept, really.
