What if they find out he 100% for sure took steriods or performance enhancing drugs? If you were a pitcher and facing Bonds from now until he gets the record, would you pitch to him or walk him?

I think until he gets booted out for using steroids, you need to recognize him as the leader. As soon as he gets kicked out or suspended, I'd take the record away.

This is not a matter of anyone "giving" Barry Bonds the record. This is not a popularity contest, it is a simple matter of math. 756 home runs is more then 755, so Barry Bonds will have the record regardless of any use of steroids, HGH, or even Nyquil. The greatest thing about baseballis the fact that they have kept such accurate statistics all this time. While statistics do not always tell the whole story of a players career, the record book is simply a record of who has the most of something, hits, runs, wins, losses, etc., and can not be changed. This is not the NCAA, where they can go back and take wins away from a team for using an ineligible player .(look at Oklahoma football) I can tell you that I absolutely hate the fact that Bonds is going to break the record of one of my favorite players of all time, but the fact remains that he will have hit more home runs then anyone else in the history of the game. Regardless of my feelings about him as a person, or my opinion that he has used some sort of performance enhancing drugs ,(possibly steroids, or more likely HGH) none of these home runs can be taken away, even if down the road you have 100% proof that he was on them when he hit them.
As for pitching to him or walking him, I think most pitchers would let the game situation determine how they pitch to Bonds. If you have a 10 run lead in the 8th inning, I'd pitch to him. Close ballgame - maybe you do pitch around him or intentionally walk him. Either way, his pursuit of the record should not influence your decisions as far as how to pitch to him, as that would taint the sport as much as him using the juice has.

Yes, and it would not be "given" to him, he hit the home runs to get it.

I'm no Barry Bonds fan by any means but the truth is even if it was proven that he used steroids, there was no rule in baseball against it like there is now. Unless he is caught using steroids now, he did not break the rules of MLB and therefore deserves the record.

According to many former players, the use of amphetamines (speed) was common in the 1950's and 1960's. So it seems like there is a history of performance enchancing drug use in MLB and the officials that run the league traditionally look the other way, which makes them just as guilty. Many records were set during that time and no one has ever suggested that those records should be wiped out.

I don't like Bonds...he's not a nice guy. But I think he deserves the record. And I would pitch to him because my primary goal is to win the game.

Bonds will never test positive for drugs, he would never be that stupid from this point going forward. Pitchers will continue to pitch to Bonds if their team is way ahead or way behind, and he is going to break the record soon.

permit's see...he have been given one at present (7/3/07) and that's selection 751...I say July 8, in St. Louis, interior the seventh, with 3 on, 2 outs, and at a count form of three and a couple of for his 2d of the day. it is going to be on the line, stress the AT&T Park crowd nuts, and the Giants will nonetheless no longer have the skill to win.

Thats not the right way to ask your question. It should be "Does Barry Bonds deserve to hold the record as homerun king". The answer is yes. He deserves it. Anyone who hits like 750 homeruns deserves that by far, regardless if they used steroids. No doubt it was wrong(if he indeed use them).

If i had the chance to pitch to him, i'd throw my fastest pitch (70 mph.) right at his face.

If I was the pitcher, I would pitch to him. The ball would "slip" out of my hand and hit him in the gut. lol

Bonds didn't break any baseball rules. (Baseball didn't disallow steroids while he was taking them - or they looked the other way anyway).

So long as he hits the 4 HRs he needs, he should have the record.

They should give him the record. Until they prove it, he is the best home run hitter out there!

I don't know what I'd do. I might have a very strong urge to peg him but I probably wouldn't do it in the end. I guess I'd just walk him.
