No, i'm not a bit shy about taking my shoes off. In fact, i wear shoes that i can readily slip my feet out of. (loafers)

No, not at all, with the exception, as others have said, of socks with holes in them. When visiting someone's house, it is rude to walk in their place with your shoes on, because you'd be tracking in the dirt from outside.
