I went to the doctor last Friday because I've been having some brown spotting that comes and goes. At my appointment they heard a strong heartbeat through a doppler, but they didn't do an ultrasound. So I'm still a little worried. I've still been having the brown spotting on and off since my appt. Should I be worried, what could the spotting be coming from? What are the chances of having a miscarriage if you hear a strong heartbeat at 10 weeks?

If you are spotting and it's brown it's old blood and so I would not be too concerned, especially if you heard a strong heartbeat and they sent you home. Lots of women spot or even bleed in early pregnancy and everything is ok.

As to what causes the spotting, it could be from a vaginal infection, a somewhat irritated or inflamed cervix (you may bleed a bit after a cervical smear, for instance), or a cervical polyp, a benign growth.

At 10 weeks you are nearly past the time when a miscarriage is likely to happen so hang in there and I will say a prayer for you!

that is usually normal...have you called your doctor and asked? it usually is just a slight discharge that will go away in a day or two...call your doctor to make sure
