We've decided that one of them will be named Lily.

For the other my husband really likes Lucy but isn't that way too close? Lily and Lucy? They would begin with the same letter and end in the same letter!

I would like to name one of my girls after my nan, whose name was Emma. Lily and Emma sounded good but our surname is Watson, and my husband's niece promptly informed us that "Emma Watson is the girl who plays Hermione!" (in the Harry Potter films if you didn't know). Is it still doable, or should we use it as a middle name?

Other names we have considered are Mia and Belle/Bella.

Thoughts and suggestions are very appreciated!

Thanks!

Julie

Ok... Personally i think Emma is an over used name. I know sooo many emmas. I love the name Lily Watson :)

I think Mia goes best with Lily. But the meaning of the name Mia is 'Sea of Bitterness' and i personally wouldnt like that for my child. I think if you want the name Emma in ur daughters then i wud put emma in their middle names.

I think belle/bella are lovely names. And belle means Beauty and bella means Beautiful.

Also, Lily has 2 syllables and Belle has one so that doesnt go. It would have to be Lily and Bella because then it goes. lol.

Lily Flower and Beautiful would be the meanings of your 2 duaghters :) I think its perfect!

:D xx

I do like Lily and Emma, but if you don't want your daughter to have the same name as an actress, then use Emma as a middle name as you suggested. Lily and Lucy aren't close enough to be a bad mix. They go well together. I know a lot of twins with names that rhyme, or start with the same letter. It works good. Good luck, and congratulations!

Wow i LOVE ur baby names!! Lily is a really nice name and as i was reading ur question i was thinking Emma, and then u said that was one of ur names so that was kind of strange but ud definately get away with calling the one twin Emma, Watson is a popular surname and who cares if Hermione has the same name. Though i do also really like the name Mia...Mia & Lily Watson...its got a nice ring to it. Good luck with the birth!

How about Lily Emma Watson and Mia Belle Watson

Firstly I am a twin, you don't want it too close or the same letter, give them both their own identity. I love Lily, that is what I was going to name my son luke if he had been a girl. Lol. Anyway getting to the point what about aylin (it is my nieces name, it is turkish i think, her dad is turkish). If you still want it in the same field as lily then you could go for daisy which in my humble opinion is sweet but not too close. Bella is lovely too. Rachel, holly (although that might be a bit weird like christmas and summer), mya, laural, beth. I wouldnt go for emma, its lovely but the whole harry potter thing will haunt her. Anyway good luck with the babies and take it from a twin, don't always dress them the same and try to stay away from classing them as "the twins", they can be together but seperate people if you know what I mean. Best wishes. Lisa.

I don't think you should be put off by the Hermione thing - her full name won't be used that often (only really in formal situations) so I wouldn't worry about it too much. I doubt many people will make the connection!! But if you really are worried about it then go for a different name. I do like the sound of Lily and Belle - it has a lovely ring to it! Just go with whatever you want, it's your choice! Good luck x

I have a friend whose daughter is Emma Watson! I do agree that Lily and Lucy are a bit similar, although, even if the names are completely different, you still call them by the other's name. Of the other choices, I like Bella.
