I think that women need to learn how to defend themselves better and not take mental or physical abuse from anyone. Any man that wants a piece of me bring it.....hehe

I have been through mental and physical abuse and I didn't take it the first time hand was laid on me. I knocked his a-- out. Women are stronger then they think especially when they are in trouble.

one more thing there is no reason for a woman to take a mans crap like that when there is way to much protection in the world such as a gun and self defense lessons. And low self estemm is not an excuse for the stuff I have been there it took me fighting him off of me and sticking a gun to his forhead for him to realize i wasnt playing....and the sad thing is men are in this position today as bad as women are.

OK and have you been through this situation? There are things that happen that everyone doesnt understand! How can you judge calling a woman stupid for taking the abuse when you yourself have not been through it? I tell you one thing I HAVE!!!! I didnt take it willingly, and I didnt enjoy it, but where else was I to go? Would you have let me with my 4 children in your house??? NO, I had NO CAR, NO MONEY, NO WAY OF GETTING A JOB!!! and a few other reasons that I dont want to get into here, so before you go off calling women stupid why dont you sit back and think a little bit about what a persons situation may be, and as for you being able to take care of yourself, I was a kick boxer and I still got the hell beat OUT OF ME ALL THE TIME, EVEN WHEN i WAS PREGNANT, you laugh with your little he he bullshit but you wouldnt be if you were on the floor pregnant trying to protect your stomach while being kicked, so you want to call me stupid??? go right ahead, I know what my reasons were and I did what I had to do

Have you been through mental or physical abuse? You talk big now but believe me it's not as easy as it sounds. You don't realize how it feels if you have never been there. Before asking a question like this and name calling maybe you should go visit a women's shelter or talk to an abuse counselor. You would be surprised to find the number of women that do like with abuse everyday.

I had and now have a pretty strong sense of self much like yourself, but when i was in an abusive relationship, i guess cos i had a bad self esteem, i guess i felt that i deserved it, or that i wasnt really worth the time or the effort..... its a power struggle.. and more often than not, they win!
Im now away from that, and i have fixed myself up, but its amazing how low you can go with the mind tricks some guys can play on you.

I totally agree with susieq, it is not stupidity at all.
These women do suffer from low self- esteem.
This can be ingrained from childhood and is often self-perpetuating.
What self respecting and strong woman would endure either physical or mental abuse from anyone, let alone a partner!
And I do agree, every woman should be able to defend themselves, physically we are too often, the weaker sex.

People are a abused is usually in love with the abuser, and usually has a child with the abuser.
It's manipulation.
If anyone says something enough times, they start believing that it's true.

I used to think that too, why would someone be so stupid?
Well, I had a friend tell a story once of an abusive relationship, and then I understood why. It took her awhile, but she did get out of it.
He would belittle her, tell her that she was no good, no one else wanted her, she was stupid. Unfort her family did not believe her, but only one. That family member and a friend helped her get out of the situation.

I've never been a victim of abuse but many women feel that they don't have any other choice. No job, no home, no family and they may just feel trapped.

I knew a couple of women who were in that situation and I just think to myself, "WHY??!!!" They think that they can change the guy, but they fail to realize that they can't. Men like that NEVER change! My mother told me that (She's been though the same situation....so did my sister, my aunt's, a couple of friends and myself). I don't bother to date anymore because of this!!

My sis is law is in one of those relationships. She left to Tennessee and left him here in Phoenix after he held her at gun point and threatened to kill her then himself in January this year. She took him back in June. She has this crazy idea that religion will cure all who follow His word. He uses God to get back to her and knows that she has serious chemical imbalances and has deep rooted security issues with her identity that I suppose he "fills" for her.
