I have a DVD recorder. It is playing the DVD's but only background noise and not the actual film dialogue. Can anyone help me please?

Are you talking about a standalone DVD recorder, or one in your computer?

If it's one in your computer, you may not have the correct codecs installed.

You can download a codec pack from the first url below. (I use K-lite codec pack, and that seems to do a good job. There are other codec packs available on the same page. Look down the list on the left.)

Alternatively, you could download VLC Media Player from the second url. Although basic in looks, it does a very good job of playing virtually anything you throw at it.

do you have a 5.1 system? if so you might not have it hooked up correctly, because in a dvd with 5 channles of sound you may only be getting the channles that have no voice in them.
