No.

Maybe I'm just particularly insensitive, but I'm the oldest of 5 and never "sensed" that my mother was pregnant until she told me.

And re the "children guess the sex of the baby 80% of the time" I guessed each one of my brothers was going to be a girl. D'oh!

Having said that, my experience is not necessarily indicative of children as a whole. I've always been an odd one.

Yes I do believe that children can sense if their mom is pregnant! I have a friend that has 2 toddlers. before she knew she was having the second child her oldest started getting really clingy & fussy & also kept patting the mom's stomach. She didn't know it at the time but a few days later when she took the pregnancy test she was about 5 weeks to 6 weeks along! She wanted another child but she wasn't sure if her oldest patting her stomach was just him sensing her want for another child or if she really was pregnant! She now has 2 children & is trying for one more! Her 2 & 1/2 year old has just started getting clingy again & keeps trying to say that there is a baby in her stomach again! We shall see what happens! She is trying to have a girl! She has 2 boys but she really wants a girl! Hope this helps!

Not really, but I do think that animals may have a sense that something is different before anyone else. When I became pregnant with our son last August, our dog suddenly began sitting on my lap and laying his head on my stomach. I found this quite odd since I do not really care for the dog and have never really paid him very much attention (he is more of my husband and the childrens dog). And he became very protective of me all of a sudden. Since we were not expecting to be pregnant I did not think much of his new behavior until I began feeling a little on the funny side. So finally when October rolled around I decided to take a HPT and sure enough it was positive. What a surprise to us, since I was on birth control at the time we got pregnant!

I think so. Children are alot more in tune to instincts and intuition than we realize. As we progress, our society actually teaches us to stray away from that instinct and intution and develop more of a logical thought pattern. We sort of unteach ourselves to listen to our guts and retrain to listen to our brains and hearts. There's nothing wrong with this retraining, but it does mean that some of that innate instinct we're born with is lost -- although a deeper understanding and intellect can be gained.

I couldn't find it again, but I found a website at the beginning of my pregnancy that says that if you ask a group of 50 4 and 5 year olds the sex of your baby, that 80% of the time, the majority answer is correct. Thats pretty amazing to me. Obviously, their just answering off their hunch. It also showed where they did this test with other age groups and the closest percentage was 60% accuracy.

I had friend whose 3 year old daughter kept telling her she was going to have another baby. Her husband had already made an appointment for a vasectomy, so she ignored it. Sure enough, she was pregnant! Then her little girl started talking about twins and she got really concerned...

well, my five year old, he was four at the time, just came up to me one day and said "mommy, I want you to have a baby, I want a baby brother" we had been trying for awhile to get pregnant with no luck but had not mentioned any of it to him. it shocked me that day that he said that. well, later that month was when I had found out I was pregnant! we had been trying for 15 months! ever since we told him i was pregnant, he's been in love with the child.

im not sure, but about a month before we got pregnant my 3 year old kept saying I had a baby in my tummy. I dont know if she overheard us discussing it one night or what but it was weird. It really creeped me out when we did tell her i was pregnant and she said "two babies" in there. THANK GOD she was wrong about that one!!

YES! My daughter kept patting my tummy all the time and got clingy, and my best friend is now 14wks and her 20mth old came up and said "Bubba" and rubbed her tummy, this prompted her to take a test (she was going to anyway) and sure enough she was 4 wks preggers! Maybe coincidental but......

No but your cat might know before you do. For some reason my cat would love to lay on my lap when I was pregnant and not at any other time.
