Republicans only care about themselves and their money.
Democrats want to share the wealth because they don't have any money.

We probably have more in common as Americans than the issues which divide us, but if I was to judge based on what is seen here in Y/A:
- Democrats are generally for the little guy. We support American goods and jobs. We constitute a higher percentage of blue collar workers than conservatives. We embrace diversity in culture. We believe in live and let live.
- Republicans are generally for big business. They could care less if we lose jobs to "outsourcing" and they talk a lot about a "free market." But, forget it when it comes to applying that "free market" philosophy to something like seniors buying cheaper pharmaceuticals in Canada.
- Democrats support universal health care and universal access to contraception and comprehensive sex education.
- Republicans wear blinders where "abstinence" is concerned; turning a blind eye to the teen pregnancy and abortion rate.

Democrats are traditionally beholden to The People, in the constitutional AND populist sense. They are pro worker, pro union and pro little guy.
Republicans traditionally are the party of Mega business, the party of lobbyists, and exist to bring about fortuitious change for the wealthiest 2% of the population.
Unless I was rich, I wouldn't hesitate to support a Democrat over a Republican. The Republicans have learned to divide and conquer people who really should support the Democrats with wedge issues. They portray themselves as the morality party, and manipulate many naive voters this way. They also manipulate with hate, as in exploiting anti-Mexican and anti-hispanic feeling by labeling all hispanics "illegal". The unenlightened have taken up the Right's banner on this issue, and all they have to do is sit back and enjoy the division and class warfare.

For the elected officials, not much. Republicans in office have become Democrat-lite.

Democrats want to take from the rich and give to the poor - level the monetary playing field. Republicans want those who earn (or get) money to keep it themselves.

Dems historically were "for the common man", now it's changed to be "for the morally corrupt". I dont agree with lots of what Republicans do when it comes to taxes and other things that benefit the wealthy, but i cannot lose my moral fiber to vote Democrat.

The far left and the far right are no different in my opinion..Both try to legislate morality which in turn creates larger government and more control over peoples lives.
Only fools believe there's a difference between the parties..

Virtually nothing, as evidenced by their respective corporate donors lists.
For example, which party has the closest ties to the agricultural sector and its new offshoot Big Ethanol?
