yesterday I won and auction for a designer handbag, been after one for ages and was very excited. I paid via paypal then mailed the seller syaing how happy I was to have won and was hoping it was the genuine article etc etc. Next thing I get an email from the seller saying the item had been withdrawn as she had "discovered" that the bag was a fake. Do you think that if I hadn't mailed her in the first place, the bag would have been sent cos no questions had been asked?

Too right it would have. 99% of the designer bags on ebay are fake. Want a real one - check out sellers who are part of my poupette site - they are real.

Its a bit hard to tell really, the best thing to do would be to check her rating to see if anything like this has happened before, it could be a con artist and like u say cos u mailed her she decided to withdraw the acrticle.
You dont say whether they refunded your money or not, i hope for your sake it was.
The person may have been genuine but then again you would have thought they would have checked to see if the bag was real before placing it on ebay.
I would keep an eye on the person and if they put the bag back up for sale saying its genuine then i would report them.
best of luck

She probably would have sent it. She might have already known it was fake and put it on there anyway, thinking most people wouldn't know the difference. I bet she figured if you had the knowledge to ask about its authenticity, you would be able to tell it wasn't authentic when you recived it.
And I sure do hope you got your money back.

She probably would have just sent it on to you if you hadn't emailed her about it. More importantly, did you get a refund? If not, you will have to go through paypal to get it and it's best to do it now.

Probably. If they think you are on to them it puts the wind up them. Rule of thumb is that if something is to good to be true then it is- even its designer and very cheap then be very wary- even second hand designer is rarely cheap.

It's possible that the bidding didn't go high enough to suit her, so she was just using that as excuse not to go through with the auction...Unscrupulous, I know. But, a possibility...
