In Albufeira this time of the year is crowded with tourists. But you will get a lovely weather.
You can go to the beach, or stay in the pool (if your hotel has swimming pool), go to the restaurants and bars, go shopping, go to disco's at night.
My favorite in Albufeira is Liberto's. Just ask a taxi to take you there, it's lovely. Lovely music and good drinks. It has an oriental look this summer.
Out of Albufeira you can visit Zoomarine (has lots of animals and entertainments), or you can go to Faro and have a visit of the town.
There are great restaurants everywhere but try to keep out of those pizza and hamburguer shops where you can get a disease. In summer some restaurants serve all to tourists just wanting to have more profit. Sometimes food is not healthy in those places.
Keep out of the places you see a lot of tourists. They are ment to this: get tourists only. Croweded and no quality.
Try to see where the locals go and follow them.
Portuguese know best LOL
The restaurants with some poor look near the harbours are the best to eat good quality fresh fish and sea food.
That's the best in Algarve.
In Faro near the airport (Praia da Ilha) you have one of my favorite restaurants: Camané.
It's a bit expensive but worthwhiling. Needs reservation or you will not find a free place to sit.
In Faro, near the marina, you can find Benfica restaurant. It has delicious fish and sea food plates and not expensive.
In Portimão, near the harbour, you can find "tabernas" who are little restaurants for the fisherman, but they serve delicious food. Don't have a luxourious look but they serve good and cheap.
Don't forget your sun lotion (you can buy it anywhere here) because the sun is very strong and you will get a nasty burn without it.
Light clothes are necessary and don't forget a pair of jeans and a cotton sweater for some chilly nights.
The days are hot but sometimes the nights are chilly with the sea wind.
Algarve is mainly a beach going place. LOL So I wish you lots of sun and tanning and nice meals and ... a couple of hours of sleep after lunch, during the hotter part of the day, so you can endure all night dancing.
Have lovely vacations dear.

You can visit the fortress in Sagres, the Cape St Vicent, and its lighthouse which is the second most powerful lighthouse in Europe. You can go to Silves and visit the castle, the Archaeology Museum, and 'Fabrica do Ingles', which is a place where there are several shows, restaurants, etc. Castro Marim (closer to Spain) has another fortress, where there are sometimes some medieval fairs. You can go to Faro and visit the museums they have there. There are several restaurants and bars in Algarve and obviously our gastronomy and wine is something you should try. Typical dishes are 'Cataplana', grilled fish, etc on the desert side you can eat 'Dom Rodrigo', figs with almonds, 'Bolinhos de Maçapão', etc. You can go to 'Guia' and eat some good grilled chicken, it is very good.
Like Margarida above said, you can visit Zoomarine, they have several shows with animals throughout the day, but it would be better to arrive early and take your bathing suit as they have a swimming pool... or at least they used to have one.

Have fun in Algarve.

We stopped at Tavira, a pretty little town with a beach,
Portimao and Praia da Rocha, a beautiful beach and nice towns, and wanted to go out to Sagres and visit the SW tip of Europe, but didn't have time.
There are easy train and bus connections all along the coast and there's good food and Fado as well as modern music.
I loved Portugal! Lisbon is really picturesque!

The highlight of my holiday was definitely zoomarine and slide and splash. A must for the whole family. I am a mother of 40 and myself and my husband enjoyed both places as much if not better than the kids.
