The experience of all the transcendentals (truth, goodness and beauty) provoke some measure of suffering because they show us what we are not and the limits of our own finitude.

The truth will hurt you. but rarely injure you.Lies hurt you and can injure. With truth you have the potion to act on a situation. On the other hand lies distort reality .It puts you in a place without defence. You can't deal with or correct something your not aware of,ir the facts are altered.I don't always like to tell or hear the truth but ,I hate a lie.

Philosophically speaking, if we know it is not true, it should not hurt much, since it is the truth that prevails finally. What is not true, appears to hurt more only if we assume it to be true.
The untrue by definition is impermanent and inconsistent.... therefore even if it hurts, it is only for the time being until a change takes over. Truth, if it hurts, would continue to hurt until we change ourselves to adapt to it... changing ourselves is not easy.
I hope you see my point.

If you mean truth, it never hurts. Truth is nothing but your own conscience, which is just a witness to all your actions.

Truth simply 'is'...
The 'hurt' comes from our interpretation of it. If what is true doesn't conform to our expectations, we either fear it or are angered by it...
