I came off the pill as I am hoping to get pregnant. I had a period a day later and am now trying to work out when I will ovulate as I have heard that this is not a real period, i.e. I stopped the pill 10 days ago, how many more days until I ovulate? Thanks!

Hi the period you had after stopping the pill is a withdrawel bleed.
The next period you have will be a proper period.
You might take awhile to get regular and it depends on how long you were on the pill for.
Saying that you could be fertile straight away after stopping. every body works different. I took about two months to get pregnant after I stopped taking the pill.
Try charting your bbt and your cervical fluid - also try ovulation predictor tests. all these can give you an idea as to whether you are ovulating or not
god luck

Wait until after your next period if its about 28 days inbetween,(otherwise wait until there is a clear 28day gap, should be no more than 3 mths) then start calculating ovulation.
You can buy ovulation test kits that you test with about 10-14 days after your period starts. When you think you might start ovulating, say day 10 you pee on the stick and if it is a positive then you will ovulate between the next 24-48 hrs so it increases your chance of becoming pregnant.
My best friend tried this and fell pregnant on 4th mth. It cost $20 at Coles and came with 5 ovulation tests and 3 pregnancy tests. Well worth it if you want some idea of when you ovulate. You can try taking your temp at the same time every morning but it takes at least 3-4 mths to track a regular ovulation time.

Remember the pill typically takes 3mths to leave your system and when you get off the pill you can start to tell when you ovulate by a dull ache like period pain for a day on the side you ovulate from, so maybe left side this month, right side next month.

Good luck TTC.

Hi,

I came off the pill two months ago. The first bleed is not a real period - it`s a withdrawal bleed. In my case, I had a period 29 days after the first day of my withdrawal bleed, but every woman is different. It may take longer. When you first come off the pill it is next to impossible to tell when you ovulate, or even if you do (unless you use an ovulation predictor kit). I recommend you have sex about once every couple of days until your periods are back to normal just to cover any eventuality. Try not to be too disappointed if it doesn`t happen straight away though.

ok well the recent period was not a real one, it was result of stoppiong the pill. You'll have another period between around 25 and 35 days later, could be later again as the body has to get used to not being on the pill, but that will be a real one.

Its just a case of waiting, they may well be irregular for the next couple of months until the body settles into not taking the pill and having real periods.

Good luck

X

Let's see. Your previous questions say you are a single mother who's baby daddy ran off to Brazil and left you poor. You also think your new boyfriend, who you recently met a few months ago, may be cheating on you with his ex.

For the sake of your daughter, get BACK on the pill and get to know this man first. I don't know you, but it sounds like your man has no idea you went off the pill to get pregnant. Why bring ANOTHER innocent child into the middle of a bad situation?

you nedd to have at least three peroids to clear your blood from the pills effects and you can praper your body for a health pragnancy by starting to have folic acid supplement and good diet
, then you can start to work it out and thats by recording every first day of your priods from now, and in the third month you can start to tray from day 9-10 up to day 15-16 from the first day of your last period.
but thereb is a chance to get pragnant from after your first period.... good luck

use the ovulation test. It will be different for everyone, so there is no guide or rule of thumb.
