I have a sea of post-its & scraps of paper strewn about. It is a terrible system and it doesn't really work that well but I do it anyway...ghaack

Use a single piece of paper next to your front door and take it with you when you go out. Then try to accomplish as many of those things as possible. Also try putting a star next to the ones that you NEED to get done (like paying the rent).
