Your reply, is that really what that certain religion is about? If someone does not believe they must die by a `thousand cuts`?
What about the poor, uneducated people who are not clever enough to understand?
This is one of the reasons why a lot of people are against religion because, in the main, it does not make logical sense. Their rules seem as if they are concocted by delirious, uneducated unintelligent fanatics.

In Islam, the Qu'ran & Hadith are the main source of information about how to go about things. Muslims rely on Imams to tell them what the Qu’ran and Hadith actually say, since it is actually very difficult to understand the meaning behind certain verses etc.
Some Imams use this to their political advantage and some desperate people will listen to the Imam’s deliberate misinterpretations of the Qu’ran and Hadith.
So, to answer your question “why they do this?” the answer is simple
They are being misinformed.

These terrorists do not pick and choose - they are not bothered if innocent Muslims are caught up in the bombs etc just as much as they do not care if they are Christians, Hindus, Buddhists etc etc.
Don't fall for the rubbish that some people spout - and NO, that is not what Islam is about. Problem with some posters is that they are blinded by their racist and xenophobic views. It's just an excuse to 'have a go' at Muslims. There are OVER 1.6 BILLION muslims in the world - these terrorists that call themselves muslims are NOT following the religion - immature, inept attempts and blatant LIES to use the Qur'an as a source are despicable and should be treated as such by all people in possession of a brain cell.

They are following the qu'ran, "death to the unbelievers by a thousand cuts"!
Although they are to use a knife and not a bomb, the twisted war mongering clerics, (who do NOT participate in terrorist activities themselves), preach to the gullible.
With the promise of a better life in the next world, by becoming a martyr to the cause of Islam.
It about time the clerics become a target, and not the simpletons who follow their perverted preaching.
The belief of martyrdom is so strong that prison will not stop them, they will wait until they are released, and try again!

Because they are mentaly ill and the sooner this is recognised the better. I think that all religion should be treated as a form of mental illness with varying degrees of severity.
