Can you show me any evidence that a monitor actually damages the eyes in any way, compared to staring at a book, or anything else continuously, because in about 15 years of monitor development and support I was aware of nothing that would support that claim.

TCO in Sweden, who are really hot on the ergonomics and safety of monitors have no 'anti glare' requirement.

If your screen is right next to a bright light source, then one of these devices would help reduce reflections in the screen, otherwise they are pretty much useless.

Follow good ergonomic practices. Do not continuously stare at the screen. Close your eyes for a second or two every few minutes. Sit back and stretch every so often. Every hour or so get up and move around. Get a drink, go say 'hi' to someone, just move your body around for a minute.
