He didn't pardon Scooter. He commuted the sentence.

The whole Plame thing was a sham investigation form the start. Fitz knew early on it was Armitage who leaked to Novak - yet he continued on his witch hunt to try to take down somebody in the Bush administration.

Scooter was basically given 3 years in jail and a $200,000 fine for not remembering which reporter he said what to 3 years earlier.

Consider this: After hearing that Lyin' Joe Wilson was sent to Niger because his wife who worked for the CIA recommended him Novak called the CIA for verification that Plame worked there. The CIA said 'Why yes, Valerie Plame does work for the CIA". Does that sound like something the CIA would do to someone who was undercover?

Plame outed herself to Joe Wilson around the time he first kissed her. Not really what a 'covert agent' would do.

Lyin' Joe would frequently brag that his wife worked for the CIA at DC cocktail parties. Lyin' Joe also mentioned his wife worked for the CIA while peddling his Op-Ed piece to every DC paper. Lyin' Joe also listed his wife by name on his online resume.

Val was also outed by a Moscow spy, and by the CIA who referenced her in several papers.

Scooter still has to pay the $200,000 fine.....meanwhile Sandy Berger only gets a $50,000 fine for stealing and destroying documents form the National Archives.

No, Scooter had his own get out of jail free card: give up Bush, Cheney and Rove to Fitzgerald.

Bush pardoned Scooter to buy/reward his silence.

In legal usage, quid pro quo indicates that an item or a favor has been traded. Bush pardoned Libby in exchange for future needed favors when all the cr*p Bush has pulled finally surfaces.
