I'm going to undergoo a procedure which requires general anaesthesia less than 45 hours from now. Do you have any tips / is there anything I can do to decrease any possible risks and for the general anaesthesia to be safe and effective ? anything helps, thanks.

Follow the instructions of the surgeon and other support staff regarding food (not having) a few hours before etc. If you have any anxiety, discuss with them. Relax.

Make sure you are well hydrated but do NOT drink any liquids within 4 hours of your surgery time, request that they give you nausea meds during the surgery as a preventive, ask them to start out "light" on the anesthesia and increase the amount if needed. Lots of prayers and best of luck to you.

1) Nothing to eat or drink after midnight ...if you usually take heart/blood pressure meds in the morning do so with only sips of water. 2) No make-up or jewelry...there should be no metal in contact with your skin. Any deviations from these two basic tenets should come from your Anesthesiologist.

Sometimes general is recommended but NOT necessary;

dont eat anything the day of the surgery. also be prepared to puke when you wake up. some people do and some people dont. it also may not be safe if you have heart problems.
