I am 47, no children and have gone through Menopause, no more excruciating pain. I had cramps like curling up in a ball pain. Mom got me Midol and Pamprin; neither helped. I didn't get bad headaches as you suffer from, but I can tell you this. If you consume salt on your food every day, cut it down. I use Morton's Lite Salt, it also has potassium. I have OsteoArthritis in both hips so please get a bone density test if you haven't. Caffeine and Nicotine are also not things you should consume during your period. Get your blood pressure checked for the headaches, please as well.
I'll check in more often here to see how you are.

Sometimes the headaches are caused by the rise in hormones as a result of the period being there. This is sometimes what doctors refer to as a menstrual migraine. The only way to know for sure what is going on is to have this evaluated by your doctor to see what they say and think could be causing these headaches.

this is a very common problem for alot of women me included, when I still got a period that is. You should tell your gyn and they will give you script, fiourecet worked best for me. However I was completely down for three days and not able to function. If the regular over the counter stuff is not working for you, you may need a prescription drug, like the one I mentioned above. Definitely schedule an appt. with gyn.

it's natural to have severe headaches during our menstrual period in the sense that our body is in the mood of disposing our waste. maybe we're a bit edgy when we have our monthly "visitor" so it mood swings and headaches occurs

I use to get them too, so did my doctor. Nothing takes them away.My doctor showed me scans of a woman's brain during that time and we have excess water which goes away after we start our periods. Lets not forget our horemones changing constantly. The only real cure....Menopause.....truly.
