Ecology is the science that studies the interactions of organisms with their environment and with one another. It comes from the Greek words oikos (habitat) and logos (study). It deals with energy relationships and tracing them to our sun, the source of energy used in photosynthesis.
Ecology, biology and other Life Sciences overlap with zoology and geography, which describe the things that ecology tries to predict, and energy economics which describes mostly human food chains and trophic levels.

Organisms can be studied at many different levels, from proteins and nucleic acids (in biochemistry and molecular biology), to cells (in cellular biology), to individuals (in botany, zoology, and other similar disciplines), and finally at the level of populations, communities, and ecosystems, to the biosphere as a whole; these latter strata are the primary subjects of ecological inquiry. An imblance in one system
will cause imbalance in all other
systems.

An Environmental question under Economics Is that possible ?????
YES
When links in the food chain are removed or damaged all that follows is off balance some things disappear other breed out of control
When you spray for all the mosquito's ,all the life in the woods can disappear ,(it happened on the banks of the Danube )because all the things that ate mosquito's had no food so they died or went elsewhere and they in turn were food for other things ,etc
When kids kill all the birds ,iguanas and snakes for example
the rats ,insects and caterpillars will breed with out restraint and become plagues
This is Ecology imbalance
And when the fauna is imbalanced the flora is also effected
Because that needs many animals and insects to function,
Bees pollinate ,Squirrels plant trees ,so do birds
trees builds soil and conserve as well as produce rain
At the end of the day ,the agriculture suffers ,
Less water ,more plagues ,and less soil.
Then the Economy is effected ,
because Economy and Ecology walk hand in hand
Check history
when the ecology went so did the civilizations.
A communities wealth is directly related to the Environmental conditions .
And that is why you can get away with this question in the category of Economy,it would have been better under Environment
but i saved you by demonstrating the relation.
you are lucky.

Ecological Degradation Due to Exploitation of Natural Resources and Development
Ramakar Pant and Rakesh Khanduri
There is a story related to the environment, in which a boy who was a very good painter made a big painting of a scene. There were big mountains covered with trees, except a few in the far background which looked snow-covered. From one of the mountains flowed a beautiful river. Down in the valley could be seen a few cosy cottages surrounded by gardens, a few butterflies, some birds soaring high in the air and little children playing happily in the open fields. Indeed it was a beautiful painting.
The boy had a little brother. He also wanted to try his hand at painting. As soon as he got the chance, he picked up the brush and painted the mountain all black. The sparkling blue-white water of the river became brown, and with just one stroke of his brush, the flowers and trees and butterflies disappeared. His older brother was heartbroken. The only consolation was that the child who destroyed the painting was so small that he had done it in ignorance. Though it would require a lot of time and effort, the painter could paint another picture.
Something very similar is happening in our lives. How many of us have looked at nature’s beauty, a thousand times more beautiful than any painting can ever be, and realised how fragile it is? Just like the child’s stroke of the brush, one action of ours can destroy this beauty — be it the mountains with their forest cover or the sparkling streams and rivers of life-giving water, be it the immense sand deserts or our oceans which are teeming with life; be it our lush green rain forests or the stark beauty of our cold deserts. But, and this is an important but, there is a major difference. While the painting was spoiled by an ignorant child, our earth and its environment are being spoiled by adult humans. Even more significant is the possibility that if nature’s system or what we call the environment is destroyed, the effect may be fatal for many species.
Environmentalist and social activist Shri Sunderlal Bahuguna once pointed out that the agony of the present-day world is the offshoot of an illogical and indiscriminate spoliation of the sources of the earth and nature by man for his meaningless material development that is leading him fast towards destruction.

Ecology includes economics
Many ecologists also deal with human economics:
Lynn Margulis says that economics studies how humans make a living, while ecology studies how every other animal makes a living.
Mike Nickerson says that "economy is three-fifths of ecology", since ecosystems create resources and dispose of waste, which the economy assumes is done "for free".
Ecological economics and human development theory try to separate the economic questions from others, but it is difficult. Many people think economics is just part of ecology now, and that economics that ignores it is wrong. "Natural capital" is an example of one theory combining both.

Too much or or too little of anything causes an imbalance. For example climate change causing a rise in sea temperature has allowed for species which usually live further south in warmer waters to migrate to the coastal waters around Britain thus threatening our native species. I think. Now I look at my answer I'm not sure if i have answered your question. I'll pop it in any way.
